This series pres­ents cen­tral source texts of the poli­ti­cal theo­ry of the Midd­le and Modern Ages in the orgi­nal lan­guage with con­tem­po­ra­ry trans­la­ti­ons. The mul­ti­l­in­gu­al texts docu­ment important aspects of the for­ma­ti­on of Europe’s poli­ti­cal cul­tu­re. Tog­e­ther with the rese­arch into the histo­ry of poli­ti­cal phi­lo­so­phy and legal theo­ry, they con­tri­bu­te to the under­stan­ding of important insights into the intellec­tu­al foun­da­ti­ons of modern poli­tics and its insti­tu­ti­ons, who­se deve­lo­p­ment owes thanks to a high­ly exci­ting intellec­tu­al and poli­ti­cal history.
