Event: Institute on Peace and Justice Studies Program Development for African Universities

This insti­tu­te, inten­ded for lea­ders and facul­ty of Catho­lic uni­ver­si­ties and insti­tu­tes, as well as facul­ty from other faith-based or sta­te uni­ver­si­ties in Afri­ca, aims to enhan­ce exis­ting peace stu­dies pro­grams and fur­ther the deve­lo­p­ment of new ones, main­stream peace stu­dies across uni­ver­si­ty cur­ri­cu­lum, iden­ti­fy pos­si­ble col­la­bo­ra­ti­ons bet­ween uni­ver­si­ties for peace stu­dies, and explo­re con­nec­tions to peace and jus­ti­ce work by the wider Catho­lic com­mu­ni­ty in Afri­ca.  The insti­tu­te is being co-sponsored by Heki­ma Col­lege Insti­tu­te of Peace Stu­dies and Inter­na­tio­nal Rela­ti­ons, the Cent­re for Social Jus­ti­ce and Ethics as the Catho­lic Uni­ver­si­ty of East Afri­ca, the Asso­cia­ti­on of Catho­lic Uni­ver­si­ties and Hig­her Insti­tu­tes of Afri­ca and Mada­gas­car, the Catho­lic Peace­buil­ding Net­work, the Kroc Insti­tu­te for Inter­na­tio­nal Peace Stu­dies at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Not­re Dame, the Ber­ke­ly Cen­ter for Reli­gi­on, Peace, and World Affairs at George­town Uni­ver­si­ty, Catho­lic Reli­ef Ser­vices, the Insti­tut für Theo­lo­gie und Frie­den, MISEREOR, and the Joan B. Kroc Scool of Peace Stu­dies at the Uni­ver­si­ty of San Diego.
